HOW DOES THE NEW ALL STAR FEEL?

The All Star has had a huge upgrade with handling. The key focus this year was to refine the bottom shape of the all star, fine tuning the vee for stability and creating a new nose shape that gives the board easy handling, especially in side chop.

On top of this, the new round tail not only boosted speed, but gives the board predictable and fine tuned handling.

Another area of focus for the new All Star was the new center drainage system, featuring a first of its kind internal scupper drainage system, allowing water to escape much faster.

Speed is always a must have for the All Star, and we always test our boards compared to the previous model. This year every board has gained a significant speed advantage in all conditions. We have achieved faster speeds without stability loss across all models thanks to refinements in the bottom shape, rail shapes and the new round tail design.

And the newest member to our range, the 21.5, bridges the performance gap between advanced and elite paddlers. This model is a fantastic option for heavier riders as well as elite riders wanting to use the wider all star in large ocean swell conditions. We were able to achieve fantastic speeds on the 21.5 model and this will be the board of choice for most of our dream team riders.

Volume distribution is a super important factor for board handling and easy paddling. This year we have reduced volume in key areas to give the board balance, better control in extreme conditions and a lighter final weight.

We have also enjoyed experimenting with a range of fin positions thanks to the larger fin box. As the All Star is the board for every condition, varios fin positions are needed, and the larger box gives this advantage to refine your fin position. Technical short course racing will generally require a further forward option, while fin positions in sprinting and longer racing can be set further back in the box.

• More forgiving round tail. We found that the rounded tail helped to keep the board level in choppy conditions while reducing drag in all conditions.
• The rounded nose rails limit the wash interfering and pushing the nose around in side chop.
• Recessed vee shape forwards of the standing reduces weight and is more forgiving on running beach starts to lean your chest on the board.
• Reduced vee underneath the board helps to keep the board level, giving more stability and predictability.
